Chess Engine Server
You know how you can run super strong UCI engines from within your Chess Openings Wizard for Windows or Macintosh?
Wouldn’t it be great if you could get analysis from those engines on your iPad or on your Android tablet?
Well, those engines won’t run on iPad or Android.
So what we’ve done is created a program for Windows and Macintosh called the COW Chess Engine Server. Its purpose is to run strong UCI chess engines so that Chess Openings Wizard on iPads and Android devices can get the strongest possible analysis.
The program is free. It is only useful if you have Chess Openings Wizard on your iPad or Android though.
The installer for the COW Chess Engine Server can be downloaded here…
The chess engine server and your iPad or Android must be on the same WiFi network.
Future versions of the app will allow you to edit a standard list of UCI commands that are sent to the engine when it starts up (similar to the UCI commands in Chess Openings Wizard). These commands can make the engine use a different number of processors or use an endgame tablebase.
Notes:
McAfee internet security will stop COW from communicating with the chess engine server, even after being added to Macafee’s exception list.
The Windows version of the engine server is 32 bit and can be installed on Windows 7 and Windows 10 (64 bit). The engines used by the server can be 64 bit.
