Getting analysis from the PocketGM Server
Chess Opening Wizard uses the private PocketGM server to give you analysis from the latest version of Stockfish (currently 16.1). You must be connected to the internet to get analysis from the server.
The server is shared by COW mobile users so each mobile device needs to enter their email address to uniquely identify their phone or tablet.
Currently the only way to change the email address is to reset the program settings to the factory defaults.
Start the server by either choosing Analyze with engine server from the menu or by pressing the engine action button.
Stopping the chess server analysis is done by pressing the X button in the chess analysis area or by choosing Analyze with engine server from the menu.
The server runs Stockfish in multiPV mode which shows three best lines. For the 4,400 most common opening positions, the server instantly shows the cached analysis stored in the cloud.
Once the server is showing analysis, the red VCR play button will play the best move according to the engine.
The diagram will highlight the engine’s best move with a grey arrow.
