Re: Move window on upper right side of COW 2016 PRO

The Move entry area is for those who enter moves faster by touch typing. You can type in "Nf3" and press enter and it will add that move or play it if it's already a candidate move. The certainty slider is for showing how certain you are of the evaluation. For example, the Informant symbo...

Re: Commands Menu

Hi, I am wondering if someone could tell me what the best order is when creating your opening with regards to the Commands Menu. i.e. Analysis, Backsolving, Finding Leaf Nodes, and Transpositions. I get vastly different assessments depending on how I order these processes. Help, much appreciated. I...

Re: Color Code (Red, Yellow, Green)

Just a few notes about colorizing imported books/pgn games, etc. It seems that your last decision remains a default. I imported some new PGN games to an existing COW file, with new games receiving a yellow dot. Later I created a new COW file from a purchased book (PGN). All moves came in with a yell...

Re: COW: your workflow

Sometimes there is a model game in a book, and it gets very challenging to keep track of a model game within a book on the same subject, because sometimes the model game doesn't follow the modern recommended line. I agree. Back in the BookUp days, you could go to "Game" and "Load...&...

Re: COW: your workflow

P.S. I make my windows narrow. There is no space to the right of the pop-up menu for the candidate moves. As a result, I see the word "Certainty" but not the slider. I completely miss the "Move" field. There is room to move the "Certainty" and "Move" to the le...

Re: COW: your workflow

This is a very good topic for discussion. I suspect many of us are not taking full advantage of COW. Also a tutorial on all menus and menu items would be a good thing. -> would you recommend this tool to keep track of my own games (like CB would do)? I mean keep my games with analysis. Currently, I ...

Re: Compatibility topics

As noted before PGN files from Modern-Chess import flawlessly. I have been harsh as regards Everyman Chess PGN files. That was due to my experience opening older Dangerous Weapons and Starting Out titles. However today I tested several of their Opening Repertoire books and they imported just fine.

Re: 5 Feature Requests

I believe it was Mike in a video who described how Fischer analyzed and got better. He would examine a position from the Black side, make a move, then rotate the board to examine the position from the White side make a move, rotate the board, and so on. This can be done in Chess Opening Wizard. I'm ...

Re: User Experience.

My advice is to keep using COW Pro on your PC and forget about it on the iOS (tablet?). Just think of it as beta testing that you don't want to do. That's the short and sweet response. Now for the long and sour response. I think I have just turned the corner (sort of) on COW for the tablet. It happe...

Re: Tablet considerations

Yes, I got the tablet to rotate. COW usually adjusts well, though not always.

COW does not split a screen. Given my tablet's small size, 8", it would not help much anyway. Someone with a large tablet might benefit from that capability.
