In this case "Lockander: " for every comment from him, "Emms: " and "ChessPub: " as appropriate. The Master COW Ebook would be so complete that I would no longer need to reference the individual contributing Ebooks. That would be huge. In fact it would render the saved set request in the first paragraph unnecessary, at least for me.
I may have figured this out. I went to the text file of the games from the book Fighting The Ruy Lopez (FTRL). It seemed that every comment began with "{" . I did a search and replace all to change it to "{FTRL ". I imported this PGN file into COW and now the comments are preceded by FTRL . I did the same thing with the relevant games from ChessPublishing. Now all comments are preceeded by either FTRL or CP. I did this today. So far, it seems to work great. I wish I had figured this out a long time (and many combined books) ago!

Some people will not want to edit PGN files. So I suggest this functionality be built into the next version of COW.

This is working very well. I have three opening books on the Classical Siclian from Modern-Chess. They are in PGN format and hence readily imported into COW. One is authored by GM Cheparinov, one by IM Kanmazalp, and one by a team of IMs/GMs described as "Workshop." Each Ebook includes comments.

Each book can be edited and saved with Microsoft Notepad prior to import into COW. Comments are preceded by "{". I made the following three changes, as appropriate. Search and replace:
{ to {Cheparinov:
{ to {Kanmazalp:
{ to {Workshop:
Each file must then be saved.

All books are then imported into COW with comments sourced by author. Works like a charm. Pre-editing text files may be a burden to some people. I recommend this process be implemented within COW upon the next release. There is an additional step that is beyond me. The Workshop PGN file has several authors. These are identifed in the field called "annotators." It would be nice to access this information upon import. The desired effect would be to identify a comment to look something like this: "Workshop, Avrukh: This move revives the variation."
