Number of Candidate Moves - what does the "G" mean

Post by wylfrydsmythe »

When I import a PGN and backsolve, candidate move numbers are displayed. However, in some cases a letter G is displayed to the left of one and one only of the candidate move numbers. What does that G mean? I had wondered if it was intended to indicate the main line, but that doesn't appear to be the case.
Thanks

I thought it was the main move of the imported PGN but I will check it.

I pasted a PGN game from the clipboard into an existing COW eBook and the "G" appeared. However, this does not work when importing a PGN game.

P.S.

This is a nice feature when you want to add a new game to an existing Ebook and you don't want to lose track of the new game. Proceeding move by move, play the move that contains a "g." For further visibiilty, the drop-down menu by the candidate move is indented.

You should play the exact game sequence. If you play an alternative move order that transposes, the "g" is no longer visible and the drop-down menu is no longer indented.
