I get that a lot. I just try again and it usually works.

Rather than go through the menu ("analyze with engine server"), I click on the icon that is to the right of the next branch button. Perhaps that is a little faster. I can see this button when the screen is in portrait mode. If I rotate the screen to landscape, I can no longer see the button.

For serious analysis, I use COW Professional on my PC. My tablet is a 9" Lenovo. It's small size makes it very portable. I have the COW app loaded. Access to an engine is a great leap forward, even if it does disconnect from time to time. When analyzing with the engine, I sometimes press the little red button, that appears above the analysis, to accept the move recommended by the engine.

Regarless of screen orientation, I can no longer add comments. One step forward and one step back it seems.

Perhaps the greatest utility from the COW app is to use a training file previously developed on my PC and downloaded to my app.

The pop up to evaluate the position (equal, slight edge to White, etc.) is only available when the computer is in landscape orientation. The start engine analysis icon is only avaliable in portrait orientation. Rotating the screen sometimes works reliably. When it doesn't, the screen is filled with a fraction of the chess board. So far, repeated rotations eventually gets me back to a usable display.

On the positive side, I'd like to note a success.

I bought My Great Predecessors, by Garry Kasparov, at Everyman chess. That is $50 for five volumes. I imported it into Chess Opening Wizard Professional. While many Everyman opening books have flawed imports, this seems to have imported without error. I used Dropbox to move a copy of My Great Predecessors over to my 9in Lenovo tablet. I opened it with the COW app and can now play through the five volume set of Workd Champion games on my tablet. That is a lot of chess in my hip pocket!
