So Chess Openings Wizard is arguably the best tool for building and utilizing repertoires.Sirduke wrote: Fri Feb 20, 2026 3:14 am What is the best way to use MasterChess 9000 to build and utilize repertoires to study Opening lines?
Starting with MasterChess though, I'd recommend searching for games with a particular intention. Here are some sample intentions:
I want to play openings like Bobby Fischer, the greatest repertoire player of all time. He played specific lines against opponents and he just knew his openings better than any other player. Search MasterChess for Fischer's games.
I want to play the latest trends in theory at the highest levels. Make sure your database is up to date by downloading the latest games from The Week In Chess. Then search MasterChess for games by move order and set the Sort by to Year.
I want to play the sharpest lines as White in the London system. Search MasterChess for games by move order and choose only games won by White.
In searching for these games in MasterChess, have the results sent to a PGN file. That way you can open an ebook in Chess Openings Wizard and use the PGN menu import them to create the start of your repertoire.
